Support your child’s training.
Leave the answers to them.

Practical steps to prepare the setting, organise session time and help your child understand the instructions and answer independently.

Prepare together

Choose an appropriate time and prepare the space and equipment beforehand. Explain the session sequence and breaks using the instructions you have been given.

Help with understanding, not answers

Read instructions together if needed, and request teaching again if the task is unclear. During trials, avoid indicating the answer or pressing keys for your child.

Encourage calmly

Focus on following instructions and completing the session as prescribed, without comparisons or promises of a specific outcome. Tell the care team about repeated difficulties with understanding or delivery.

Understand research participation

Before joining, ask about study aims, duration, requirements, parent and child consent or assent procedures, contact arrangements and withdrawal. The study team is responsible for explaining these details.
